"Michael Lynton has done a terrific job overseeing the international expansion of our AOL brand. He is the perfect choice to lead our combined international efforts and enable our divisions to more easily coordinate with one another to maximize our results," said AOLTW CEO-elect Richard Parsons.
Most recently, AOLTW has been struggling, with shares down more than 40% this year, and Lynton, who joined AOLTW in 1999, is now challenged with the goal of bringing in half the company’s revenue from outside the U.S. To date, the company’s only international moves are its acquisition of the IPC publishing group and the considered over-priced buyback of the fledgling AOL Europe from Bertelsmann AG.
