ONE-DAY SALES: MARC ANTHONY, BOX CAR, HOOK HAPPENING

Three Records, Three Half-Assed First-Week Sales Forecasts
Following a week that saw no fewer than five new albums debut in the top five positions on the HITS Top 50 Albums Chart, three more new albums have hit the street and are also selling.

Yes, that sweet anticipatory electricity that can only be found at the very beginning of the product cycle is in the air once more, as early reports from national accounts indicate that both Columbia’s Marc Anthony and Blink 182 side project Box Car Racer on MCA are headed for Top 10 chart debuts.

Anthony’s Mended should move over 100k units by the end of the week, while Box Car’s eponymous debut should follow closely at around 100k. Meanwhile, the week’s third-biggest release, the first Urban-targeted compilation from the NOW compilation people, Off the Hook (Columbia), looks on track to move over 50k.

That’s all for now. How about those Celtics?
