HOGAN A HERO AT CLEAR CHANNEL
Veteran Executive to Succeed Former Boss Randy Michaels

John Hogan has been named Chief Executive of Clear Channel Communications’ radio division, making him one of the most powerful figures in the broadcast industry. Hogan succeeds his former boss, Randy Michaels, who was moved to CC’s New Technology division last month, where he is currently introducing the use of an abacus to company accounting systems.

The 45-year-old Hogan spearheaded the development of a specialized sales unit to push advertisers to commit to deals across Clear Channel's radio, concert and billboard divisions. Before becoming the division's President/COO in August 2001, Hogan oversaw the conglom’s radio operations in L.A., Atlanta, Houston and Dallas.

Clear Channel is not expected to name a replacement for Hogan, who will move to its San Antonio headquarters.

The appointment of Hogan, who was second-in-command to Michaels, is part of an effort by Clear Channel President Mark Mays to take more direct control of the world’s largest radio group, which generates $3 billion a year.

Said Mays: "John brings the combination of sales leadership, operating vision and industry experience that is so important to our next phase of growth. With much of the acquisition activity behind us, the overriding operating goal is to grow our business organically, leveraging assets now in place. John is both uniquely suited and qualified to lead that charge…especially after I take him to see the Alamo."

Added Hogan: "This opportunity is an extraordinary one. I am honored to work with Mark, Lowry and Randall Mays and the countless individuals in Clear Channel stations all over the country as we continue to reinvent our business. I'm anxious to continue the terrific momentum that Clear Channel Radio has started for our listeners, advertisers and communities. Just as soon as I figure out where San Antonio is."
