Quantcast
Apparently, every single person who saw the Josh Groban profile on ABC’s 20/20 Friday night went out the next day and bought his Reprise CD. Following the show’s airing, shoppers cleared the bins of CDs on Saturday. The album, out since last November, will re-enter the Chart with a vengeance, albeit a smoothly produced vengeance, near the Top 10.

WEEK IN PREVIEW: ASHANTI, CELINE RUN FOR TOP OF CHART

Josh Groban a Vision After 20/20
It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

We’re not talking Boston, we’re talking about the HITS Album Chart. Last week’s #1, Murder Inc./IDJ’s Ashanti and the previous week’s topper, Epic’s Celine Dion, will run down to the wire for #1 this week.

Hey, if we already knew who was going to be #1 why would we call it the "Building Album Sales Chart?"

That’s huge. Other sales action includes a Top Five debut for Warner Bros.Goo Goo Dolls and Top 20 debuts for Reprise’s Neil Young and Capitol’s Bonnie Raitt.

Streeting this week are new discs from Sheryl Crow (A&M) and a gospel record from Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child (Columbia).

In between drooling on themselves and saying, "Hey, buddy," the Einsteins in radioland say that most added at Top 40 this week should be RCA’s The Calling with plenty of action on J’s Busta Rhymes. In PoMo, it’s a battle royale with Chad Kroeger f/Josey Scott’s track from the Spider-Man ST (Columbia/IDJ/Roadrunner), going against Wind-up’s Creed, Flawless/Geffen’s Puddle of Mudd and Elektra’s Staind. The lovely people in the Rock world says that it’s all about the Chad Kroeger/Josey Scott song. And it’s Universal’s Corey looking like most added in the Urban and Crossover worlds.
