ABBEY GOES TO HOLLYWOOD
Industry Vet Named Label's SVP/GM; Will Also Serve As Mr. Toad's Valet
The House of Mouse just got a lot Goofier.

Just when it looked like we'd never get to make fun of him again, "Westminster" Abbey Konowitch returns as Senior Vice President/General Manager of Hollywood Records, it was announced by Buena Vista Music Group Chairman "When The Red, Red Robin Comes Bob Bob" Bob "N Along" Cavallo.

Konowitch joins Hollywood from MCA Records, where he was Executive VP, replacing Mark DiDia, who recently moved to Capitol Records. At MCA, Konowitch was instrumental in the success of such acts as Blink-182, Sublime, Mary J. Blige, KC & JoJo, The Roots and New Radicals. Prior to that, he helped form Maverick Records as the label's GM, spearheading label campaigns on Alanis Morissette, Deftones, Candlebox and Me'Shell N'degeOcello. Previously, he'd spent four years at MTV, serving as the channel's Sr. VP Music and Talent. He also spent a decade at Arista Records, rising to Sr. VP Artist Development and Video.

Commenting on the appointment, Cavallo said: "Abbey has had a long and unparalleled career, continually displaying that rare mixture of strong business acumen, sharp creative vision and an ability to never pick up a lunch check. He brings a wealth of experience, which will be invaluable to the future growth of Hollywood Records, and he applies a spit shine to my Gucci loafers that is second to none. I'm very happy to welcome him here. Um, Abbey, you can stop kissing the ring now."

Said Konowitch: "I've always respected Bob's impeccable career as an artist manager, and under his tenure, Hollywood Records has made great progress. Working with him on the successful launch of Alanis Morissette's career was an invaluable experience, and I've wanted to work closely with him since. I look forward to working with Bob and the entire Hollywood Records team in exploring the synergistic opportunities that are unique to this company. Now, can I please get out of this Mickey Mouse suit?"
