There’s also buzz over the cover of "Lady Marmalade" by Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mya and Pink from the "Moulin Rouge" soundtrack.

WEEK IN PREVIEW

Sales Are Stronger Than Death, And Other Life-Affirming Tales Of Retail
He is one of the dominant voices in rap. Any release of any music from any period of his career sends his ever-multiplying fans into stores, where a buying frenzy ensues. This week is proving no different.

Oh, by the way, he's dead.

Yes, folks, yet another posthumous release from Interscope/Death Row's 2Pac will debut at the top of this week's album chart—and it won't even be close. By the time all retail accounts are tallied, the late rapper will have chalked up sales north of 350K.

And while there's plenty of other action to ogle at (see our Building Album Sales chart), check out the debut numbers for Motown's India.Arie, who's riding a wave of video and radio play.

But, like our President's global ecology policies, let's not concentrate on the big picture. Let's look at the short-term consequences of the music industry's actions. At Top 40, matchbox twenty will score Most Added honors, while Britney Spears also gets her share of attention. There's a huge Top 40 buzz over the new Madonna, although Einstein PDs haven't received it yet. There's also buzz over the cover of "Lady Marmalade" by Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya and Pink from the "Moulin Rouge" soundtrack.

Meanwhile, at Post Modern, Sum 41 will be among the Most Added, with lots of action swirling around the new Black Crowes. For the people who were around before tongue-piercing, the new R.E.M. hits the format this week.

Our crack (-smoking) Rap department is screaming that the new track from Motown's AZ is blowing up big with its sample of old DeBarge.

Isn't this a great country? With action like this, it's no wonder we feel arrogant enough to spend billions of dollars spying on China. Stay tuned, kids. All will be revealed tomorrow.
