David "Sat In A Corner, Eating His Curds And" Weyner has been officially named Executive VP/General Manager at the RCA Victor Group, a BMG unit that oversees such labels as Windham Hill, Private Music, RCA Red Seal, RCA Victor, Bluebird and DHM. The move had been expected since the elevation of Jack "Red Rover, Red" Rovner to RCA Records President five months ago (hitsdailydouble.com, 2/15), though the position no longer includes RCA Records itself.
In his new post, New York-based Weyner will report to BMG North America President/CEO Bob "Bob Bob, Bob Barbera Ann" Jamieson.
Weyner most recently was Exec. VP/GM at Sanctuary Music and before that, he served as Senior VP International Product Management/U.S. GM at Sony Classical. Weyner also held a senior-level post at PolyGram Classics & Jazz.
The RCA Victor unit came into existence last year when BMG split up the RCA Music Group, which was formed by former BMG CEO/President "Not A Dry Eye In The" Strauss Zelnick in May 2000 (hitsdailydouble.com, 5/26/2000).
