LET THE EGO STROKING BEGIN

Radiohead Dubbed World’s Best Band; Courtney Love Still Wants to Headline Over Them

Radiohead today was named the world’s best band at Q Magazine’s music awards in London.

Votes for the best band and other awards were cast by the U.K. magazine's readers, visitors to the magazine’s website and mobile phone users equipped with awards sponsor Orange. The Oxford band beat out U2, Travis, Stereophonics and R.E.M., who were just happy to be the only non-British, non-Irish band worthy of such world domination.

Other awards were:
Best Single: Ash for "Burn Baby Burn"
Best Album: Travis for "The Invisible Band"
Best New Act: Starsailor
Classic Songwriter: Kate Bush
Best Video: Gorillaz for "Clint Eastwood"
Best Live Act: Manic Street Preachers
Inspiration Award: John Lydon
Editor’s Choice: U2
