"We’ve been at the 60k mark for the past few weeks, and with 'This Is Me' kicking in at radio, ‘TRL’ and the Teen NBC promotion, the album is at a new level—hopefully we can settle in at this level."
——Adam Lowenberg, Arista Director Artist Development on Dream

"'NOW' & HOW!"

Aaron Carter Parties And Dream Comes True
It was a great week for kids’ records, and we at HITS, like Ol' Dirty Bastard, are all about the kids.

A collection of hits that the kids love, Epic’s "NOW Vol. 6," continues to dominate the chart, which is up overall this week. The compilation has moved more than a million units in just two weeks.

Still dead, but very much alive on the chart is Amaru/Death Row/Interscope’s 2Pac in the second spot, followed by MCA’s Shaggy. At #4 is Jive’s Aaron Carter, climbing 10 places from last week, with RCA’s Dave Matthews Band rounding out the Top Five.

The week’s biggest mover is Bad Boy/Arista’s Dream, who jump from #21 all the way to #8. The biggest debut is the "Josie And The Pussycats" ST from Epic/Sony Music Soundtrax, which lands at #14.

Jive Promo Sr. VP Joe Riccitelli credits Carter’s big bump to the Easter Bunny—since he gives kids chocolate, marshmallow rabbits and CDs. "We love Easter—I know that’s what it was. Score one for the Gentiles!"

Those who don’t believe in fictional benevolent creatures that hide dyed, hard-boiled eggs think there are other factors at play. F’rinstance, it’s Dream Month on Teen NBC, the network’s Saturday morning lineup. The promotion features clips of videos and songs, as well as spots from the group in which they talk about various teen-related topics. That, plus a "TRL" premiere for new single "This Is Me," sells records.

Said Arista Director Artist Development Adam Lowenberg, "We’ve been at the 60k mark for the past few weeks, and with 'This Is Me' kicking in at radio, ‘TRL’ and the Teen NBC promotion, the album is at a new level—hopefully we can settle in at this level."

Look for a Top 10 debut next week from Soulife/Atlantic’s Sunshine Anderson.
