FLEW IN FROM MIAMI BEACH B.O.A.C…
Liverpool is renaming its airport after the late Beatle John Lennon, perhaps its most famous son. "Throughout the world John Lennon is synonymous with Liverpool," said airport chairman Robert Hough. "The new name places the airport firmly on the international map… that is, on maps that actually include Liverpool." The airport will officially become Liverpool John Lennon Airport when a new terminal opens there in the spring of 2002.

FLASHING FOR CASH
Cedric Hailey, one-half of the sibling duo K-Ci & JoJo, was sentenced Friday (6/29) to two years' probation for dropping his pants in front of a crowd of teens and preteens at a December holiday concert. The singer pleaded no contest last month to four counts of lewd conduct, after he allegedly pulled down his pants and underwear and showed off his genitalia twice during the concert, which was put on by Los Angeles’ KIIS-FM. In addition to probation, Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Kristi Lousteau ordered the singer to pay $910 in penalties. "It usually cost me more to drop trou," K-Ci said.

GIVING NEW MEANING TO "SERMON ON THE MOUNT"
Ja’Marc Antoine Davis, a member of Christian hip-hop band Raze, waived his right to a preliminary hearing without a plea agreement on rape and molestation charges. Davis is charged with five counts of lewd molestation, three counts of forcible sodomy and two counts of rape by instrumentation stemming from allegations that he was having a sexual relationship with a former backup dancer starting when she was 13 and he was 22. "It was God’s will," he said. "Just cause I’m a rapper, I’m being unfairly persecuted like all rappers… just look at how they got Eminem, P. Diddy and Jay-Z. And they, too, were all innocent."

ATKINS DIES
