SNOOP DOGG CAUGHT WITH POT

Cops Tipped Off By Distant Cousin, and Crime Dogg, McGruff
Because bad things always come in threes, HITS would like to present the third part of our recent Rappers Vs. Johnny Law series.

Not to be outdone by fellow rappers Ol’ Dirty Bastard (hitsdailydouble.com, 10/17) and Jay-Z (hitsdailydouble.com, 10/17), Snoop Dogg was charged with marijuana possession after officers in Ohio found several bags of weed on his tour bus.

"This is just astounding," said one officer on the scene. "Rappers smoking pot! What next? Music journalists!?"

State Highway Patrol troopers said the bust occurred Wednesday (10/17) after stopping Snoop’s two tour buses for speeding on Interstate 90, west of Cleveland. The two officers were tipped off by the smell of burnt marijuana coming from the bus—though we suppose red eyes and the passengers’ complaints of having "the munchies" didn’t help, either.

Drug-sniffing dogs (as opposed to Snoop, the drug-smoking Dogg) found six bags of marijuana weighing about 200 grams in the cargo hold of the bus. The rapper was charged with possession of marijuana, a minor misdemeanor with a maximum $100 penalty, and possession of drug paraphernalia, which carries a maximum sentence of $250 and 30 days in jail. Jeepers! $350? Where’s Snoop gonna come up with that kind of cash?

Lt. Gary Lewis said Snoop Dogg was "very cooperative" with the troopers and was released. Two other passengers also were charged.

The rapper is traveling on a concert tour affectionately titled "Puff, Puff, Pass 2001."

Speaking of puff, with all the criminal behavior going on, we’re having HITS’ own Gary Jackson keep an eye on P. Diddy, just to make sure he doesn’t start shoplifting to boost his media attention.
