MTV2 LOVES L.A.

All-Music Channel Adds 140k Subscribers at Adelphia, With 380k More on Tap
Now MTV2 can be seen as well as read about in Los Angeles.

The 5-year-old music video channel is ready to attract some more eyeballs in one of the country's three music business capitols, when it is made available to 140k Adelphia digital subscribers on Oct. 11. The launch includes subscribers in 50 different cities in Southern California. When customers upgrade their service to digital platforms, MTV2 will be accessible to an additional 380k subscribers.

"It's been a long time coming," said MTV2 GM David Cohn. "And we couldn't be more excited. Our goal is to get into as many homes as possible."

Cohn is hoping the proliferation of digital cable will synchronize with the channel's goal to be more interactive with its viewers on its web properties as part of the so-called MTV360 experience. "Our audience are really the early adopters in downloading music," he says, pointing to shows like "Control Freak" and "Request MTV2" as two shows which give fans the opportunity to influence MTV2 programming.

MTV2 now reaches more than 34 million homes with a programming mix that reflects a commitment to provide fans access to 24 hours of music videos in a variety of genres, including hip-hop, rock and soul. Among the new artists they took the lead on were Alien Ant Farm, Gorillaz, Pete Yorn and Mudvayne.

"We are the full-time, dependable, 24-7 music channel that complements what MTV does," explains Cohn. "We fill in the gaps by going wider and deeper."

MTV2 was added to Time Warner Cable in Manhattan late last year. "The music business will now get a chance to see what we can do and include us in their promotional and marketing plans," boasts Cohn. "MTV2 can be more than just a nice notion they've heard or read about. As soon as they see it for themselves, it will become a lot more real to them."
