JACKSON, STRAIT GET AWAY WITH "MURDER"

Industry-Critical Hit Takes Top Prizes At TNN & CMT Country Weekly Awards

Alan Jackson and George Strait took home top honors on Wednesday (6/13), at the TNN & CMT Country Weekly Music Awards Show, with six and five trophies respectively.

Three of their awards were for their collaboration on "Murder on Music Row," a song which belittles Nashville’s lacking support of traditional country music styles, in favor of pop. The track won best single, song and collaborative event.

Jackson won male artist of the year and CMT music video of the year for "www.memory" and album of the year for "When Somebody Loves You." Meanwhile, Strait received the entertainer of the year award and the Impact Award for expanding the influence of country music in other media, such as movies and TV commercials. His only regret was not making those Chevy commercials as hot as Britney SpearsPepsi ad.

The show also featured a duet by John Michael Montgomery and Jewel, on his song, "The Little Girl," while Jessica Andrews sang her ballad "Who I Am." Chris LeDoux made his first television appearance since an October liver transplant, singing "For Your Love" and showing off his physical prowess by riding a mechanical bull on stage. And the funny part is, we’re not even joking about that.
