HARD ROCK HEADS FOR COVER
Hard Rock Cafe International announced it will showcase some of its $32 million collection in the book "Treasures Of The Hard Rock Cafe." The 300-page coffee-table book, which will be available July 30, is a pictorial guide to the restaurant chain’s music memorabilia collection, with more than 2,000 photos of items from rock’s greatest icons. That’s a good thing, since we can’t read anyway. The book also chronicles the history of the Caf and includes narratives and profiles of legends like Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Madonna and more. "Treasures Of The Hard Rock Caf" retails for $50, but a special boxed and numbered edition will be available online for $100.

BAD BOY MAKES GOOD… SORT OF
Australia today said it granted a visa to Eminem for his nationwide tour this month, despite protests by the Australian Family Association, which objects to the rapper’s explicit lyrics and stage antics. Immigration Minister Philip Ruddock made it clear to Eminem that "vilifying or inciting discord in segments of the Australian community to the point where a potentially dangerous disturbance results" could lead to the cancellation of his visa. In response, Em promised to be on his best behavior while down under—though for him, that means pulling a gun on only one person per tour.

DURST TAKES DIRECTION
Wannabe feature film director Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst may soon get his chance with the film "Wanna-be." The rap-core singer, who has directed a number of music videos, has been tied to the young mobster flick, in addition to the indie drama "Runt," which was supposed to be his first taste of helming a motion picture. However, because it’s scheduled to head to theaters in October, "Wanna-be" will be Durst’s first. Expect a musical "review" of the pic on Eminem’s next release.

LOVE & HAPPINESS FOR A LIFETIME
Legendary singer Al Green will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rhythm And Blues Foundation at the organization’s Pioneer Awards on October 4th. Apparently, recent claims made by sample junkie Sean "P. Diddy" Combs that Green’s "Love & Happiness" was not a hit, were ignored by the awards committee. The ceremony will be held at the world famous Apollo Theatre, and will also include Pioneer Award presentations to music greats Fontella Bass, Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier, Eddie Holland, Allen Toussaint and Louis Jordan. The Rhythm And Blues Foundation raises money for charity work, including helping veteran artists with emergency expenses and career development.

ODB DOES TIME FOR DRUG CHARGES
The Wu-Tang Clan’s Ol’ Dirty Bastard, who pleaded guilty in April to drug charges, was sentenced Wednesday (7/18) to two to four years in prison. The New York Supreme Court judge also recommended an examination by corrections department officials to determine whether ODB needs psychiatric or substance abuse treatment. The rapper was arrested in July 1999 when police found cocaine and marijuana in his car after pulling him over for running a red light. No word at press time whether ODB was actually just taking the fall for Shawn Colvin.

MAYBE THEY’LL BE CELLMATES
In other legal news, a new possible trial date for Jay-Z’s assault charges has been set for September 5, according to MTV News. The delay is due to the busy schedule of one of Jay-Z's lawyers, Murray Richman, who is also handling an unrelated trial in the Bronx. Jay-Z, who maintains his innocence, is accused of stabbing record executive Lance "Un" Rivera during a nightclub dispute on Dec. 1, 1999, which apparently started when Jay-Z began making fun of Rivera’s "idiotic nickname."

LIMP BIZKIT INTERVIEWED IN FAN DEATH
Australian police have flown to the United States to interview Limp Bizkit over the death of a 15-year-old girl during Sydney’s Big Day Out music festival last February (hitsdailydouble.com, 2/1). A police spokeswoman today said that two officers flew to Los Angeles "to interview management and members of Limp Bizkit." The interviews are part of a coroner's investigation into the death of Jessica Michalik, who is believed to have suffered a heart attack, after being caught up in a crowd surge while in the mosh pit. Limp Bizkit accused organizers of having "a cavalier attitude toward fan safety" after her death and failing to stock enough beer in their dressing room.
