WEEK IN PREVIEW: WHO'LL MAKE #2 (BESIDES US)?

D12, Alicia Keys Go Head-To-Head
And you thought the fireworks were over.

This week’s Top Albums chart is shaping up to be another explosive battle for #1, with Shady/Interscope’s D12 and J Records’ Alicia Keys vying for the top spot.

Read our lips, kiddies: ALICIA KEYS IS NO FLUKE. We’ll talk more after the fourth-quarter sales are tallied and the Grammy nominations are announced in January.

Other chart action to look forward to this week: Elektra’s Staind, whose single is breaking big at Top 40; Murder Inc./Def Jam/IDJ’s "Fast and the Furious" soundtrack, which is building solidly behind strong box-office receipts; Bad Boy/Arista’s 112, which will post a solid jump thanks to a single that’s crossing to Top 40; and Booga Basement/Interscope’s City High, which is also benefiting from Top 40 love.

The biggest chart debuts of the week will belong to Soulja/Priority’s Lil’ Romeo and the late Eva Cassidy, whose Blix Street release is taking off again following massive consumer press.

Our Top 40 geniuses are saying it’s a wide-open week, with most programmers showing Red Zone/Arista’s Blu Cantrell, Mammoth’s Wiseguys and Maverick’s Michelle Branch some serious love.

At Post Modern, the wacky kids from DreamWorks’ Powerman 5000 are generating the most heat, while our Jamz brain surgeons claim that DreamWorks’ Isley Brothers is blowing up there.
