WEEK IN PREVIEW: TIGHT
ALBUM RACE

Ludacris and Busta Bust In, But Will Creed or Now Lord Over the Chart?
As the Q4 finish line comes into sight, early reports have Wind-up's Creed and Virgin's Now Vol. 8 in a tight race for the #1 album spot this week, with sales in the mid-400k range and Creed appearing to enjoy a slight edge.

Def Jam South/IDJ's Ludacris and J Records' Busta Rhymes will rap up Top Five debuts, with Ludacris looking 300k-ish and Busta headed for the 200k neighborhood. The week's other big bow is Columbia's "Concert for New York," coming in at just under 100k.

In the wake of George Harrison's passing, purchases of the Beatles' 1 have surged. Sales of his solo records have been hindered by a lack of product in stores and the fact that only his Capitol catalog is in print—his Dark Horse label albums and Traveling Wilburys CDs are not. Of the available solo releases, his celebrated, sprawling All Things Must Pass, re-released back in Jan., had the most on the shelves. Orders from retailers are now 2-1 for the Best Of versus All Things.

In radioland, the naughty and nice people at PoMo say that Immortal/Epic's Incubus will be Most Added, with Capitol's Starsailor having a nice showing.

Our happy little elves at Top 40 say that Elektra's Dakota Moon is filling stockings on its way to Most Added, with clean-up adds coming in for Lost Highway/IDJ's Ryan Adams, Motown's Brian McKnight and Epic's Michael Jackson—look for an MJ/Eve remix coming soon. The J. Lo/Ja Rule remix originally slotted for impact this week has been delayed at Top 40 for now. Our reindeer at Crossover say that Interscope's Bubba Sparxxx will pull the Most Added sled, followed by the dueting Method Man & Redman.
