KLAIMAN CLIMBS AT EPIC

VP Becomes Senior VP In Touching Coming-Of-Age Drama Starring TV’s Screech
Joel "A Hundred Pounds Of" Klaiman has been appointed Senior Vice President Promotion for Epic Records Group by label President Polly "Unsaturated" Anthony.

The N.Y.-based exec will report to Executive VP Promotion "Pork Chop" Hilary Shaev and her chief assistant, Duke coach Mike Krzyzewskzzysiz.

Klaiman will work closely with Shaev in developing and implementing promotion strategies across all formats on behalf of ERG artists, and painting his face blue for all Duke home basketball games. Some of the acts whose success he's contributed to include Jennifer Lopez, Fuel, Nine Days and Mandy Moore.

Klaiman had served as VP Promotion for the label since 1999. He joined the company in '96 as 550 Music VP Alternative Music before being named VP Promotion for the label in '98. The Syracuse University grad started his career as a manager for Frank DiLeo Management, then joined Savage Records as Director of Marketing and Promotion in '92. A year later, Klaiman was named Director of National Alternative Promotion for EastWest before becoming Director National Alternative Promotion for Elektra Entertainment in '95.

Commenting on the appointment, Anthony said: "Joel's extensive knowledge of the marketplace and his take-no-prisoners approach to promotion have greatly benefited our artists. This promotion recognizes his many contributions, and provides him with more room to maximize exposure for our artists across all radio formats. Now, if he'd just unlock these handcuffs so I can get back to my desk."

Added Shaev: "Joel is an amazing leader who has displayed considerable skill in breaking records. I look forward to continuing to work closely with him as we further expand Epic's presence in the marketplace. He's played a crucial role in achieving our goals on a wide range of projects. And it doesn't hurt that he's just had a portrait of Duke's Jason Williams tattooed on his butt."
