Well, blow it out your Oscar, kiddies, ‘cause the music world has its own mega-boffo-humongo red carpet, and it's called THE ALBUM CHART—and don't you forget it, Versace-lips!
Indeed, as of this writing, the week's Top 50 is shaping up as a tense confrontation of pipeline Gladiators, with 112 narrowly leading Shaggy in early returns, who was narrowly leading the Dave Matthews Band in a three-way battle for the top spot. Wheeeedoggie, they like them. They really, really like them.
But if that ain't enough Traffic for you, how about a slew of possible Top 10 debuts, including Trick Daddy, Jon B and the "Exit Wounds" soundtrack. There's even more new stuff selling, with debuts from Bizzy Bone and L-Burna lurking in the Top 30. But now we're dipping lower than Joan Rivers' breasts.
It ain't just album-chart Chocolat, sweeties. Janet Jackson and Destiny's Child are blowing up the request lines at Top 40, where it's still all about Shaggy when it comes to spins. Meanwhile, over in PoMo land, Depeche Mode is the Most Added, while Staind continues to build steadily.
Our Almost Famous Mix Show vermin are screaming about solid action for Alicia Keys, Ray J/Lil' Kim and tha Liks. But then again: HITS Mix Show vermin = Melissa Rivers.
