RADIOHEAD FANS DON'T FORGET ABOUT "AMNESIAC"

Staind Still #1, But Radiohead, St. Lunatics, Jessica Simpson, Turk Bow In Top Ten
They came. They were incredibly ethereal. They almost conquered.

Capitol’s Radiohead unleashed the power of a loyal fan base this week, as they made a serious run at the top spot of the HITS Top 50 Album chart. But alas, when the final accounts were tallied, they just couldn’t dethrone Elektra’s wacky Bostonians, Staind.

All week, Radiohead’s "Amnesiac" ran tattooed neck and neck with Staind’s "Break the Cycle," and the Brit art-rockers were not officially pronounced #2 until the racks finally put Staind over the top late Tuesday afternoon.

Also posting a truly impressive Top Five debut was Fo’ Reel/Universal’s St. Lunatics, featuring rap sales powerhouse Nelly, which came in at #4. The Top Five also includes Interscope’s surging "Moulin Rouge" at #3 and Columbia’s bootylicious Destiny’s Child at #5.

"History repeats itself, with Radiohead again showing the strength of their incredible fan base," said Valley Media’s Jerry Suarez, whose own fan base has settings that read "High," "Medium" and "Low." "It was our #1 seller this week and was every bit as strong, if not stronger, than their last release."

Suarez then said some things about St. Lunatics and Staind, but rather than repeat them here, we decided to do something more interesting—like wash our necks.

Other notable chart action this week includes a #6 debut for Columbia’s Jessica Simpson, a #9 bow for Cash Money/Universal’s Turk and Murder Inc./Def Jam/IDJ’s "Fast and the Furious" soundtrack, which came in at #15.
