WEEK IN PREVIEW: RETAIL STAIND WITH ROUGE

Flipsters Keep Rocking Hard, "Moulin" Kicks High And Top 40 Loves Dave
After dominating the marketplace in its first week, Elektra’s Staind is dominating the marketplace in its second week.

Is this a nutty business, or what?

When final numbers are calculated on our Building Album Sales Chart (click the "Sales" tab, bozo!) come Tuesday afternoon, the angst-ridden millionaires will still be at the top. Our Top 40 Einsteins claim that the three mainstreamers not playing the band will fill out this week, adding to the 1200 spins already going down at the format.

Other Top 40 action this week comes from RCA’s Dave Matthews Band, who will come in as Most Added in its first "official" impact week, despite the 600 or so spins already registered. Also look for Top 40 action for Epic’s Fuel, which is impacting all formats this week.

At Post Modern, it’s all about Atlantic’s Stone Temple Pilots, who will easily score Most Added honors among the young, cute and pierced.

Not to be out-cooled, our Rap geniuses are screaming about Interscope’s D-12, which happens to feature some dude with a sales track record. According to our guys on the street, this one has it made in the Shady.

Back on the album chart, we’re seeing huge jumps for Interscope’s "Moulin Rouge" soundtrack, thanks to the film’s wide opening. There are also big surges for WB’s "Pearl Harbor" soundtrack as well as the same label’s Linkin Park on the strength of their new single. Also, check out the jump made by Columbia’s Train, whose adult following is finally catching up to those kiddies who already reacted to the "Drops Of Jupiter" smash. And did anyone notice the staying power of Elektra’s Missy Elliott? Just asking.

While there are no major chart debuts this week, they’ll be plenty of action to hype soon with next-Tuesday streeters from Columbia’s Jessica Simpson, Capitol’s Radiohead, Elektra’s "Tomb Raider" soundtrack and Fo’ Reel/Universal’s St. Lunatics featuring Nelly. Yeeeeehaaaaa, kiddies. Another week has arrived.
