J.LO "SEX TAPE":
AMERICA IN CRISIS

Death Row Backs Off On Claims, But Tape May Show Trakin Trying To Sniff Green Dress
You can put away your credit cards. It appears that while Death Row Records has a Jennifer Lopez tape of some sort in the works, it isn’t a sex tape, according to E! Online.

Just days after the tabloid story alleging the existence of "sex tape" broke, Death Row is backing down from its claim.

"My client is currently producing a videotape entitled ‘J.Lo Uncut: Tha Real Story,’" Death Row attorney Jeffrey Lowy wrote to Lopez’s camp, adding that label founder Suge Knight "does not possess a so-called ‘sex tape’ involving Ms. Lopez and an ex-boyfriend."

According to the supermarket tabloid The Star, the alleged videotape featured an "In Living Color" fly-girl-era J.Lo and an unidentified ex-boyfriend engaged in sex. "There is such a video," claimed an unnamed Death Row exec. "And it is definitely Jennifer Lopez. You can see the big butt and everything. We’ve had this for a while now. We were waiting for the right time to put it out, and the right time is now."

Death Row claimed the tape was in the process of being edited for a summer release—where it would have gone head to head with such blockbuster summer fare as "Pearl Harbor" and "A.I."

Almost immediately after the story hit the stands, Lopez filed suit against Death Row to prevent the release of the tape (hitsdailydouble.com, 5/11).

Knight is a longtime rival of former Lopez beau Sean "Puffy and/or P.Diddy" Combs—which, of course, could have something to do with this whole story.

"There’s no sex video; there never has been," Lopez’s publicist, Alan Nierob, told E! Online. "We’ve said all along that we highly doubted it. If it were the case, it would’ve been non-consensual, without her knowledge and a complete invasion of privacy." He left out the word "hot."

Nierob added that, because of Death Row’s admission, Lopez was dropping her suit. "It’s sort of a moot point," he said, "because if there is no tape, and they’ve gone on the record, it doesn’t go further."

When asked Friday if the whole J.Lo video story was just a PR stunt, Death Row spokesman Jonathan Wolfson replied, "You make what you want out of that. It’s never a dull moment on the Row."

In other J.Lo news, Variety reports the ubiquitous singer-actress has reportedly pacted with NBC to produce and star in a series of TV specials, the first of which is slated to air this Fall, and to develop a sitcom based on her Bronx girlhood. Meanwhile, her film "Angel Eyes" opens this week, she's shooting a new film for director Michael Apted and has two major features lined up after that, she'll be touring for her current album next year and she's available for parties and Bar Mitzvahs--though she gets kills on all video.

In a related story, a sex tape of two HITS employees and a mongoose has been rejected by the Internet.
