Launch Media announced today (4/17) it had pacted with Amazon.com, making Amazon a non-exclusive e-commerce provider for pre-recorded CDs, cassettes and music videos for the Launch website. There was no word at press time whether the reel-to-reel or 8-track needs of consumers would be met.
According to the agreement, an Amazon.com Buy Music link will be integrated throughout Launch wherever users have the contextual opportunity to make a purchase. Launch will receive a share of any revenue generated from the sale of music, games and merchandise purchased through those links.
"We are pleased to be working with Amazon.com to offer our over 5.7 million registered users the opportunity to purchase their favorite music through an established retailer," said Launch CEO Dave Goldberg. "Through this partnership Launch further establishes itself as a leading music destination, where music fans can find out about the music they like and then be able to buy it in an easy and efficient manner."
