MTV GETS SPANKIN’ AGAIN

Shakira, Britney, Pink Among Those Lined Up for Spankin’ — And It’s Not Even Their Birthday!
If it’s the fourth quarter, this must be time for MTV to get "Spankin’ New" again.

The music channel is ready to unveil its latest MTV360 campaign in November, with MTV, MTV2 and MTV.com hosting a variety of programming initiatives.

Among the artists slated to drop by for performances or appearances are Mick Jagger, Britney Spears, Lenny Kravitz, Pink, Kid Rock, Shakira, Busta Rhymes, Alien Ant Farm, Enrique Iglesias, Fabolous, Timbaland and Bubba Sparxxx.

MTV/MTV2 Sr. VP Music and Talent Programming Tom Calderone said: "One of our goals has always been to have the most talented artists come to perform in our Times Square studios—and this week we must be going for some kind of record."

Some of the highlights:

  • MTV’s "Spankin’ New Music" week will take place Nov. 5-9, with special 90-minute editions of "TRL," featuring live performances from Kravitz, Pink, O-Town, Shakira and Busta Rhymes, with the Nov. 10 special, "Best of Spankin’ New Music Week." The channel will also present special "Spankin’ New" editions of "Direct Effect."
  • MTV2 will feature a new video premiere every day through November, with new clips from Alicia Keys, Radiohead and the White Stripes. Brand-new albums from Shakira, Kid Rock and Busta Rhymes will be previewed in their entirety on weekends through the month. There will also be concerts from Incubus, Disturbed, Bond and Alien Ant Farm, plus the premiere of "Shakira Unplugged 2.0." The channel will also air the eighth annual MTV Europe Music Awards on Nov. 3.
  • MTV.com will give fans a "First Listen" to the latest CDs, while fans can log on to get full, free streaming access to all of new albums from Shakira, Enrique and Sevendust. The site will also stream full-length music video listening parties for new albums from the Backstreet Boys and Green Day. In addition, the site’s new advance-CD sales program, "Unwrapped," will offer the opportunity to pre-order and preview Busta Rhymes’ new LP.
  • Among the sponsors for "Spankin’" are Best Buy, Intel, Roxio, Hasbro, Xbox and Adidas Kobe Two.
  • MTV360 will also partner with affiliates to offer co-branded marketing promotion opportunities highlighting high-speed Internet access and broadband offerings.

Now we know where to go to get spanked.
