PUNKS READY TO INVADE HALL

List Of Eligible Groups Includes Blondie, Richard Hell, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Talking Heads, Tom Petty
Never mind the bollocks, here comes the latest Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination process.

The official Hall of Fame Nominating Committee is set to meet on Tuesday, June 19, at Wenner Media in New York for a luncheon session to discuss this year's nominees.

Artists are eligible 25 years after their first album was released, which means the class of 1977 gets its chance to be honored, including pioneering punk and new wave groups like Blondie, Richard Hell, Patti Smith Group, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Talking Heads, the Modern Lovers, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Television and Warren Zevon.

The Hall of Fame hasn't been known to favor cult artists, having failed to vote in such groups as the New York Dolls or the MC5 last year.

Other eligible artists who have previously been up for nomination, but failed to make it to the final ballot, include Abba, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Neil Diamond, ELO, Kiss, Kraftwerk, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Gram Parsons, Lou Reed, Roxy Music, Boz Scaggs, Bob Seger, Jethro Tull, Tom Waits, Yes and ZZ Top.
