ARTISTDIRECT HIRES PROMO TEAM

Hood Winks At New Staff, Opens Barnes Door And Admits Carloss, Walker
In an effort to boost its label operations, ArtistDirect Records continues to build its staff, launching its promotion department with three key appointments.

Under VP of Promotion Dawn "Boyz in tha" Hood, the revitalized label has hired former HITS employee Jimmy Barnes "and Noble" as Senior Director, Rock Promotion; Ann Carloss "Leader" as West Coast Regional Promotion; and Steve Walker "the Stalker" as North West Regional Promotion. All three join ArtistDirect effective immediately.

"We are very proud and fortunate to have Jimmy, Steve and Ann on the same team," said Hood. "They are all accomplished promotion people who offer diverse experience and history, a passion for working great music, and the desire to grow with an innovative and unique music company. And they've all perfected the ability to say 'Yes, Ted' clearly even when their mouths are full."

Prior to joining ArtistDirect, Barnes launched the rock department at All Access Music Group. Before that, he was National Director of Rock Promotion at Trauma Records, where he worked closely with Bush and The Flys. Prior to that, he spent more than five years at HITS, where he spent most of the time keeping other people’s cars out of Ivana’s parking space.

Carloss comes to ARTISTdirect from Restless Records, and a five-year stint at Epic Records where she served as Regional Promotion Manager in the Houston and Los Angeles branches. She began her career in 1984 at Capitol Records.

Walker joined the regional staff at Virgin in 1993 where he has been for the past eight years, working records by Janet Jackson, the Rolling Stones and Lenny Kravitz.
