RITTER LEAVES NAPSTER

Longtime Employee Moves On To New Pastures, No Telling If They’re Greener Or Not
One of Napster's original employees—or OE—has left the nest.

Jordan Ritter, 22, had worked alongside company co-founders Shawn Fanning and Sean Parker since Napster's early days, helping bring the groundbreaking app from the dorm room to the world and, ultimately, to the courtroom.

According to AP, a spokeswoman for Napster confirmed Ritter's departure from the company. She gave no details on Ritter's future plans but said he left the company on good terms. The AP story also gave little indication exactly what Ritter did for Napster.

Ritter leaves Napster in the midst of a busy time for the company. In addition, to being embroiled in a copyright infringement lawsuit with the RIAA, the company has also recently cut a deal with BMG to develop a membership-based digital distribution system.

The company remains in talks with Sony, EMI and Universal, but negotiations with WMG have broken down.

Napster claims 38 million users. The company is headquartered in Redwood City, CA, and has 45 employees. Or is it now just 44?
