LINKIN PARKS ONE AT RETAIL

Warner Bros. Rockers Ready To Roll On Next Week’s Chart, Lenny Kravitz Goes Over 100k
Warner Bros. rock group Linkin Park will be the big surprise on next week's charts, with first-day sales indicating the album could move up to 40k and land solidly in the HITS Top 50 chart. Other big debuts next week include Lenny Kravitz, whose "Greatest Hits" will top 100k and land in the Top 10, as well as Sony Music Soundtrax's "Charlie's Angels" album, which looks headed for approximately 50k in sales.

Managed by Rob McDermott and Andy Gould, Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory" album has been fueled by Active Rock and PoMo airplay on the first single, "One Step Closer," though much of that is in late-night dayparts.

Said one business insider: "The record is showing the same pattern of growth as Papa Roach, whose first-week sales forced increased radio airplay." That album is now up to 2.2 million in sales OTC.

Lenny Kravitz's "Greatest Hits" album has been preceded by the one new cut on the record, "Again," with first-day sales indicating the disc will go over 100k, while the "Charlie's Angels" soundtrack, featuring Destiny's Child's smash "Independent Women," should have it in the 50k range—not bad considering the movie doesn't even open until next week.
