Priority Taps Tom, Arista Ups Joe
These two promo domos are on the move.

Veteran Promotion execs Tom Maffei and Joe Reichling have been tapped for new posts at Priority and Arista Records, respectively.

Veteran crossover ace "Peeping" Tom Maffei has been named Senior Vice President of Promotion at Priority Records by President/CEO "The Life Of" Bryan Turner.

In this new position, Maffei will oversee radio promotion efforts for the artists on Priority's roster, including the associated imprints Posthuman Records and Divine Recordings, in addition to helping Bryan lace up his skates for the weekly interoffice ice hockey game. Maffei will also supervise Priority's video promotion campaigns and the label's street team strategies as well as keeping it real in the field, yo.

Maffei joins Priority from Arista Records, where he was Vice President of Crossover Radio Promotion in charge of holding Puffy's piece.

Commented Turner: "Tom is a seasoned professional who has cut his teeth on an amazing array of superstar artists. His list of mentors is a who's-who of successful record executives. I feel very fortunate to have him here at Priority, especially because he's the only one here that knows who Stan Mikita is."

Added Maffei: "I am thrilled to be working with Bryan Turner and be a part of taking Priority to the next level. But who the hell is Stan Mikita?"

Meanwhile, Joe "The Rise and Fall of the Third" Reichling has been promoted to Vice President West Coast Promotion for Arista Records by Sr. VP Steve "More Fun Than A" Bartels "Full of Monkeys."

Reichling will coordinate and implement various promotion and marketing plans on behalf of label artists at the local and national levels and answer all of Clive Davis' leftover fan mail.

Said Bartels: "Joe is an integral part of the Arista Promotion team. He represents the future leadership in this area. His work ethic and tenacity have been an important part of the delivery of our music at radio. And he never uses forceps or epidurals."

Reichling has been in Regional Promotion for the label over the last four years. Prior to joining Arista, he served as Local Promotion Rep for Atlantic Records in San Francisco.

Added Reichling: "I am thrilled to be given this incredible opportunity by Jerry Blair and Steve. L.A. Reid has assembled an amazing team who are up to the challenge of redefining the label for the future, while developing some of the most exciting and innovative artists in the industry. As well as the dullest promotion executives."
