PLANETOUT BRINGS OUT THE DOLLARS
America Online Investments
, BMG Entertainment, Creative Artists Agency and investors we haven't heard of have all put dollars into PlanetOut, an Internet media company that specializes in the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. The new round of investments, the company's third, brought in $10 million…and an additional 50 cents from Eminem.

AIMAZING GRACE
Justin Frankel
, the programmer who wrote the code for online music player Winamp and was part of the crew that wrote file-swapper Gnutella, is making his bosses at America Online unhappy. His latest creation is AIMazing, a plug-in for AOL's Instant Messenger. When users install the program, it replaces the banner advertisements on IM with white boxes. If users go to hitsdailydouble.com with IM open, AIMazing fills in the white boxes with annoying radiospeak such as, "You're my guy."

NETRADIO NETS HOLDERMAN
Stephen Holderman
"On Loosely" has been named Executive VP for marketing, sales and business development at NetRadio. The company is "an online distributor of originally programmed audio entertainment." In non-press release speak, that means it's an Internet radio site with original programming. Holderman will be responsible for developing and implementing intensified NetRadio sales strategies aimed at increasing advertising revenues and ordering cool Razor scooters for all the staff.

WARHOLS LAUNCH INTO AMERICA
Launch Media has glommed on to the Dandy Warhols for its Launch Concert Series Fall Tour. Launch was a sponsor of the Warped Tour and the Frequency Tour. At each stop of the 10-date tour, Launch is sponsoring an afterparty for contest winners and invited guests of Launch and its sponsorship partners, Target, Pontiac Sunfire and Nibblebox. Now that sounds like a great party: retail stores, cars and nipples. Oh, I mean Nibbles…nevermind.
