BET.COM HITS ONE MILLION MARK

Web Site’s "Where’s ODB?" Contest Helps Rake In Record Number Of Visitors
BET.com is giving itself props, as the online presence for the Black Entertainment Network scores more than one million unique monthly visitors.

For November, both Media Metrix and Nielsen/NetRatings ranked BET.com as the most popular African-American site. Nielsen/NetRatings data logged 1,685,000 visitors to the site, scoring BET.com nearly double the traffic of competitor BlackPlanet.com and 10 times that of BlackVoices.com.

BET.com was named "Best African American Community Site" by Yahoo! Internet Life.

"Exceeding one million unique monthly visitors per the third-party audience measurement companies is a major milestone for both BET.com and the entire African-American Internet sector," said BET.com COO Scott Mills. "It demonstrates the vitality of the African-American online audience and the strong demand for quality African-American-oriented online offerings. This is a robust, fast-growing marketplace and the latest numbers suggest that the Internet access gap between the general market and African-American consumers is rapidly decreasing."
