HFA, NMPA RESTRUCTURING

NMPA Reportedly Tired Of Harry Fox Stealing Chickens From The Coop
The boards of directors for the Harry Fox Agency and the National Music Publishers' Association have decided to reorganize the management responsibilities for the two companies.

The reorganization, which is planned to begin this fall, signifies a return to the separate management structure that existed with each entity in the past.

Ed Murphy is currently CEO of both organizations. Under the planned restructuring, he will continue at the helm of the NMPA. The Board will immediately begin a search for a new president and CEO of HFA.

The National Music Publishers' Association, Inc., founded in 1917, works to protect and advance the interests of the music publishing industry. The NMPA handles legislative issues, industry-wide legal issues, intra-industry rate negotiations and international relations.

The Harry Fox Agency provides an information source, clearing house and monitoring function for licensing musical compositions, and represents more than 23,000 music publishers. HFA also provides the collection and distribution of royalties to copyright owners and in conducting periodic licensee audits on behalf of its principals.

Said Murphy: "This century will be dominated by revolutionary growth in new communications media, which will be accompanied by the blurring of traditional geographic boundaries. NMPA is fully committed to its role in guaranteeing the full and successful participation of the American music community in this burgeoning world of global commerce."
