ALL’S FAIR AT A&M

Industry Veteran Ron Fair Is Named
President Of A&M Records
Veteran A&R executive Ron Fair has been named president of A&M Records. Interscope Geffen A&M Records Chairman Jimmy Iovine made the announcement today.

"My pledge is to pursue the highest quality of record-making; to honor the existing artist roster; to develop and nurture new artist careers and deliver potent hit records," said Fair. "Jimmy Iovine has given me the opportunity of a lifetime—to creatively lead A&M under his wing. I'm thrilled to be a part of this aggressive and inspired company."

Since 1993, Fair served as Senior VP of A&R at RCA. While at that label, he was launched Christina Aguilera's career with the #1 hits "Genie In A Bottle," "What A Girl Wants" and "Come On Over Baby"—the latter of which he also produced—all from her 13 million-selling debut album. Fair also executive produced Aguilera's Grammy-nominated platinum Latin album "Mi Reflejo" and her #1 Latin single "Ven Conmigo," and produced her Platinum album "My Kind Of Christmas."

In his long career in music, Fair has served as house engineer for United Artists Music Publishing, Director of A&R for Chrysalis Records, Head of International A&R/Producer for Island Records and Senior Vice-President A&R for EMI Records. It was at the latter where he produced the eight-million selling soundtrack to "Pretty Woman."

"We reserved the presidency of A&M for a uniquely creative executive," said Iovine. "When Ron became available we jumped at the chance to bring him and his talent to our company. I believe that Ron will be dedicated to continuing the legacy of A&M established by Herb and Jerry."

The first release under Fair's A&M aegis is his production of the new single from Irish teen pop sensation Samantha Mumba, "Baby Come Over."
