KROQ ROCKS THE MARKET

For nearly two decades, KROQ has been the sound of Post Modern rock in Los Angeles, from the station's spartan beginnings in a small walk-up in Pasadena to its current standing as one of the jewels in Mel Karmazin's CBS/Infinity crown.

Now, PD Kevin Weatherly, APD Gene Sandbloom and MD Lisa Worden have even more reason to crowd-surf after scoring the station's best trend ever.

In Phase I Summer Arbitrend, KROQ went 12+ 4.5-4.8, marking its highest numbers to date. KROQ is also the #1 English-speaking station 18-34 with an 8.0 mark, besting Power106 (6.5-6.8) and KIIS (6.0-6.1).

PD Weatherly excused himself from the Limp Bizkit mosh pit long enough to say he's really, really excited, and to direct all further inquiries to his agent.

"The station is on fire. The morning show has been on a roll for the last year, the music is great and we have an unbelievable staff. But it's only a trend. While we're pumped that in KROQ's 20-year history there haven't been numbers like this, we have to realize it's a summer book—and it's only phase one. This really represents two years of steady upward momentum, and while we're happy about it, our only focus is to keep it going through the fall. And getting out of the office by 4."
