With the dust still settling around news of his imminent departure, the outgoing BMG chief has agreed to serve as "non-exclusive Chairman" of On2.com, a self-described "broadband application service provider," effective Jan. 1.
Zelnick has served on On2.com's board since February, and will reportedly assist the company in forming and strengthening relationships in the entertainment world. The position will not be full-time, however, which means Strauss won't be forced to neglect his hickory-smoked sauce research.
"We are thrilled that Strauss will become a part of this company's brain trust," reads some riveting PR boilerplate attributed to the dot-com's President/CEO, Douglas A. McIntyre. "We could not add a finer mind with more knowledge about the world of entertainment and intellectual property than Strauss Zelnick's, if we looked for years. And he'll be indispensable at company barbecues."
