Because You Really, Really Care About These Awards Shows, And So Do We. Really.
Cancel ALL plans for January 8, 2001. For on that night, Faith Hill, Marc Anthony and Creed will duke it out at the 2000 American Music Awards.

Country chanteuse Hill leads the pack with four nominations, including Favorite Country Music Album ("Breathe"), Favorite Female Country Music Artist, Favorite Female Pop or Rock Female and Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist. Anthony and Creed follow with three noms each—Anthony for Favorite Latin Music Artist, Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist and Favorite Male Pop/Rock Artist and Creed getting nods for Favorite Band, Duo or Group; Favorite Album ("Human Clay") and Favorite Alternative Music Artist.

History will be made, as the AMAs confer the first-ever Techno Artist Of The Year award. Moby, the Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim are vying for the honor. Said Moby: "The addition of this category will be very meaningful for the electronic-music community, which looks to network awards shows to decide what records to buy."

The 28th annual AMA ceremony will take place in Los Angeles and will air on ABC. Britney Spears will host the

event. The teen-pop megadiva had announced she would perform the Lambada with HITS' own Roy Trakin, but he'll be too busy celebrating Elvis Presley's birthday by mooning grieving tourists at Graceland
