JAZZIN’ WITH BLUE JEAN

Wyclef Gets More Media Play Than That Naked Guy From "Survivor"
That Wyclef Jean sure is one busy guy.

MTV announced today that Wyclef would headline the MTV Campus Invasion tour with De La Soul and Black Eyed Peas.

The tour kicks off at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI, on Oct. 3. So far, only the October dates of the tour have been announced.

"This fall's lineup of Wyclef Jean, De La Soul and Black Eyed Peas will offer the students an exciting and innovative show that will be a musical highlight at schools across the country," said VP Promotion & MusicMarketing Lisa Braun, VP, Promotion and Music Marketing. "Plus, on many stops along the tour, attendance also counts as a three-credit elective."

Jean recently inked a joint venture with Clive Davis' new label, J Records. For his very own Clef Records, launched by J and BMG Entertainment, Jean will sign and produce new talent. J Records will handle the sales, marketing and promotion for the imprint. You know, the easy stuff.

As if that wasn't enough to keep a body busy…

The ex-Fugee recently took a little time out of promoting "The Ecleftic: 2 Sides II A Book," his latest disc, to give a deposition as part of a lawsuit filed against his ex-bandmate and just plain ol' ex Lauryn Hill. The fellow former Fugee (say THAT with a mouthful of crackers) is being sued by four musicians who claim that they co-produced Hill's 1998 breakthrough, multi-Platinum album "The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill."

Details of the content of Jean's deposition were not available, but Rollingstone.com speculated that a lyric from Jean's new album might give some clue. From "Where Fugee At?": "You're wicked/Stop lying to the public/You wanted it so bad you took all the production credit."

I don't know, that's pretty vague…
