SANTANA AND BLIGE ROCK THE VOTE WITHOUT A FLORIDA RECOUNT
Carlos Santana
and Mary J. Blige will be honored by MTV's Rock The Vote this month for their service and community activism. The two Grammy-winning artists will receive 2001 Rock the Vote Patrick Lippert Award, Tuesday, February 20, at the L.A. House of Blues. Santana will be honored for his Milagro Foundation and his support fighting for the rights of indigenous people, while Blige will be honored for her work with community organizations like Partnership For A Drug Free America, the Million Family March, the United Nations and Special Olympics, as well as for sharing her dressing room with NSYNC at the Super Bowl. The award presentation, hosted by Tyrese, will also serve as a benefit concert, featuring Grammy-nominated artists Jill Scott and the Foo Fighters, whose lead singer David Grohl will probably be dodging panties thrown by HITS' Erika Strada as well as Black-Eyed Peas. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Rock The Vote.

BOSS ON TV
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
will make their television concert debut this April on HBO. The taped Summer 2000 performance will be the first time the band has appeared in concert on television. The special was shot last summer at Madison Square Garden during the final leg of their 1999-2000 world tour. The special is set to air Saturday, April 7 at 9 p.m. EST on HBO. In related news, the Guy With the Goggles made his first television appearance, on the "Blind Dates From Hell" special. His cousin's uncle's mother—his sister—and a goat co-star.

SABBATH REMEMBERED
Black Sabbath
has been tapped as a headliner for OZZfest 2001. The band will join Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Papa Roach, Linkin Park and Disturbed on the big stage. The summer rock festival, which will feature three revolving stages, kicks off June 8 in Chicago and will make stops in 29 other U.S. cities. Follow the trail of headless doves for further details.

PARSONS' FREE LUNCH
Even in the restructuring stages of giant entertainment mega-mergers, it's important to take the opportunity to befriend a few entertainment lawyers, even if you'll want to scrub off the entire epidermis of your right hand after greeting them. AOLTW Co-COO Richard Parsons will get his opportunity as the keynote speaker at the upcoming Recording Academy's Entertainment Law Initiative Luncheon and Conference Feb. 20 at the Regent Beverly Wilshire ballroom. More than 300 entertainment attorneys and key music industry professionals, including Recording Academy President/CEO Michael Greene, will be in attendance to discuss the changing roles of entertainment law and the growing issues of law and the music industry. The one-day event will also feature a law scholarship awards ceremony. Afterwards, AOLTW boss Steve Case will validate everyone's parking.
