"Young Hollywood has arrived! Consequently, this year's nominees reflect the young stars from Wes Bentley to Hilary Swank to Jason Biggs that have broken through and have been embraced by the MTV audience."

SUSPENSE OVER "BEST BUTT" AWARD BEGINS ANEW

MTV Announces Nominations
For Movie Awards 2000
Sure, the Oscars are fine and everything. But the real cinephiles among us are chomping at the bit for the MTV Movie Awards, where we can relive landmark moments like the kiss from "Teaching Mrs. Tingle."

But wait, there's more--and MTV has announced all the nominees for the broacast, which tapes June 3 at Sony Pictures Studios and is scheduled to air on June 8 at 9 pm (EST).

MTV personalities carson daly',390,400);">carson daly',390,400);">Carson Daly and Chris Connelly will host the "MTV Movie Awards Nomination Special" tonight (4/17), an apparent response to criticism that the network doesn't hype its programming quite enough. Awards show host Sarah Jessica Parker will appear on the special, hoping to add the crucial 14-year-old stoner demo to the audience of her sophisticated sitcom "Sex and the City."

Nominees and winners are chosen via a national poll of MTV viewers, who evidently feel that "Big Daddy" is more deserving of recognition than "American Beauty." And you thought our nation's future was in jeopardy.

"Young Hollywood has arrived! Consequently, this year's nominees reflect the young stars from Wes Bentley to Hilary Swank to Jason Biggs that have broken through and have been embraced by the MTV audience," declared network President Judy McGrath. "We look forward to their glassy-eyed readings from the teleprompter, their awkward pauses and their mortifying ad libs."

Gee, do ya suppose that being "embraced by the MTV audience" means a spike in video rentals, DVD sales and soundtrack albums? Is Annette Bening still pissed?
