"PSYCHO" SOUNDTRACK RECALLED
Koch Must Perform "Hip" Replacement On Already-Shipped CD
Huey Lewis and his manager aren’t "hip" enough for inclusion on the soundtrack to the controversial film "American Psycho."
The ‘80s hitmaker, who has more recently been performing the National Anthem at San Francisco Giants games, has asked that his song, "Hip To Be Square," which is featured prominently in the film, be removed from the soundtrack album, which has already been shipped to record stores.
To comply with Lewis’ wishes, Koch Records has had to initiate a recall of all the copies of the album that have already been shipped.
"Lewis objected to the violence in the film and requested that the track be deleted," Koch said in a press release. "The label has asked record stores to ship back any copies of the album with the song on it, and remove all mention of it from their advertising and reviews."
The film, based on the controversial Bret Easton Ellis novel, opens Friday (4/14).
Apparently, sources said, Lewis and manager agreed to allow the song in the film but did not license it for the album. Someone make big boo-boo.
