Industry Veteran Promoted To Sr. VP Crossover Promotion

"Beyond the" Valerie "Of The Dolls" DeLong has been appointed Senior Vice President of Crossover Promotion for Universal/Motown Records Group by Universal Records President Monte "Stiff Upper" Lipman and Motown Records President/CEO "Ziggy Played" Kedar Massenburg.

The L.A.-based DeLong, who previously served as VP Crossover Promotion for Universal Records, will oversee all crossover initiatives on artists from Universal, Motown, Republic and Cash Money Records, including Juvenile, BG, Brian McKnight, 702, Alice DeeJay, Eiffel 65, Sonique, Hot Boys and Nelly, among many others, from her office inside Erykah Badu's turban.

Prior to joining Universal. DeLong served as Sr. VP Promotion for Lava Records and The Enclave, where she staged dramatic readings of "Wavelength" in the executive washroom.

Said Lipman: "One look at Valerie's extraordinary track record and you'll understand why we are so thrilled to expand her duties. Her promotion reflects not only our appreciation for all that she has accomplished and our anticipation of greater things to come, but how much money we're saving by paying her in ARTISTdirect stock."

Added Massenburg: "Throughout her remarkable career, Valerie has done an incredible job of combining her sensibilities as a music executive with tremendous radio savvy. And I just loved her on ‘Rhoda.' Whaddya mean not that Valerie?"

Concluded DeLong: "This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join one of the hottest young labels in the industry. I am so thankful to Monte and Kedar, and especially to Doug Morris and Mel Lewinter for their confidence in me. But I draw the line at wearing this ‘Hooray For Boobies' T-shirt around the office."
