Multimedia mogul Ted Field has been appointed to the board of directors of Strategic Data Corporation. Field will become the seventh member on the board of the provider of real-time Web personalization and marketing tools for Internet companies. YOU CAN'T BE SIRIUS
Sirius Satellite Network successfully completed in-orbit testing of its first satellite. The orbit, which was completed July 31, showed all operating systems working up to par. Sirius 2, the second in the company's three-satellite constellation, will launch between Sept. 5-15, while Sirius 3 is slated for an Octobertake-off. Sirius will begin broadcasting its 100-channel network at the end of the year. Programming includes 50 channels of commercial-free music and up to 50 more of news, sports and information. While special equipment will be needed to receive the satellite signal, Sirius equipment will be optional in new Ford, Mazda, Chrysler, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo and Jaguar vehicles. Sirius will also be available in Freightliner and Sterling heavy trucks, which will exclusively receive the Convoy Network.

DVDA ON DVD?
Imix.com and Rimage have teamed up to offer personalized DVDs. The Rimage Protg DVD-R publisher utilizes two Pioneer DVD-R recorders, which can record two DVDs simultaneously every 60 minutes. Imix has expanded its DVD offerings to include cult movies and will offer classic TV programming and music videos by the end of the summer. Porn is, naturally, already available.

CASTING CALL
icast has a new look and a new attitude. The Internet radio site has upped its stations from 35 to 153. The new offerings include the "Land Your Band" channel, which programs songs from the more than 1,100 bands that competed in its recent program of the same name. The Web page features a new version of its iCASTER downloadable multimedia player, which is compatible with AOL Instant Messenger and MSN Messenger.

BECAUSE HITS WASN'T HIRING
Music.com has named Tom Burke as Vice President Media Sales. Burke will tackle the responsibility of developing and implementing Music.com's media sales strategy and sponsorship programs. Burke previously worked at Listen.com, MTV and 24/7 Media. Burke said he was lured to Music.com by the sympathetic, caring Irate Ian column and hopes the workplace is just as kind and gentle.
