SIRE SIRES ONLINE ALLIANCE
Partnership With Kramden, EMusic Will Help Promote New And Emerging Artists

March 20, 2000

Download domain Emusic.com has announced a partnership with online record label Kramden Enterprises and the Sire Records Group. The alliance will serve to promote and develop new and emerging artists, say the participants. According to the arrangement, Kramden will promote, market and sell the albums digitally through Emusic, as well as independently through traditional brick-and-mortars. As the acts develop, the baton will be passed to Sire, which will then have the opportunity to provide big-league promotion, marketing and distribution.

"Sire has always been artist development-oriented, and as such, open to new and experimental ways of breaking acts," said Seymour Stein, president and CEO of Sire Records Group. "Most importantly, though, this alliance allows us to both move forward and remain tenaciously bound to our outmoded business model. Hey, has anybody heard about this hot new band called Napster?"

"This is a significant alliance for the music industry, leveraging the best in online and offline distribution," said Gene Hoffman, Emusic.com president and CEO. "And I’ve been a fan of Kramden since the early days of ‘The Honeymooners.’"
