The Walt Disney Co. has been lobbying the U.S. Congress on AOL's planned $180 billion acquisition of Time Warner Inc., The Wall Street Journal reported.
Disney is worried that it won’t get fair access to America Online’s Web sites if the transaction is approved. "We are jealous that AOL decided to spend billions on someone other than us," Goofy told a packed congressional house.
Disney executives met with government officials, e-mailed articles and wrote letters expressing concern about America Online’s practices to the Federal Trade Commission, the newspaper said.
Disney’s ABC unit last month planned to pull its programming from Time Warner’s cable television system in Houston after disagreements about network programming.
