Where Christian Singers On Hydrocodone Meet Busloads Of Rappers On The Chronic
After his appearance at the kick-off date of the Up In Smoke tour in Chula Vista, CA, on Thursday, Snoop Dogg's tour bus was stopped at the Temecula border checkpoint outside San Diego. Around 12:30 a.m., Friday, the border patrol smelled marijuana in the tour bus and pulled it over where officers discovered 300 grams of high-quality Humboldt sinsemilla, known as "the Chronic" to those in the know. A member of Snoop's dog pound claimed possession of the drugs and was cited with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and released. "We are shocked, shocked," said the arresting officer, "to find out that an entertainer of Snoop Dogg's stature smokes weed!"… Bone Thugs-N-Harmony rapper Flesh-N-Bone was convicted of two felony weapons charges Thursday (6/15) in Los Angeles Superior Court in Van Nuys, CA. The rapper (Stanley Howse) was convicted of assault with a semiautomatic firearm as well as being an ex-convict in possession of a gun. The conviction was based on an incident in December 1999 when Howse pulled an AK-47 out of a baby's crib and pointed it at a person, demanding he leave the house that the two were in. Howse faces a maximum of 19 years in prison when he is sentenced on July 14. Howse is also due in Los Angeles Superior Court on June 20 where he faces possession of a firearm and resisting an officer charges, stemming from a separate January incident in which the rapper allegedly showed up at the home of a family member with a loaded shotgun. "I didn't know pointing a gun meant possession," the rapper said… Amid cries of homophobia and calls for resignation, Robert Lucente, president of the New York State Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police, issued a public apology regarding comments he made June 12 about Bruce Springsteen. Lucente called Springsteen a "fucking dirtbag" and a "floating fag" upon hearing of the rocker's new song "American Skin (41 Shots)," which makes reference to the 1999 police shooting of Amadou Diallo. "Most police departments, including the New York City Police Department, have associations which include gay and lesbian groups," he said. "The New York State Fraternal Order of Police has a long-standing reputation of supporting those groups and individuals. I offer to those persons and their families my most sincere apologies for a comment made in anger over the many deaths of those in law enforcement." Ironically, Lucente was born and raised in Queens… Charley Pride has been elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame, becoming the first black performer to be voted into the Hall. Faron Young will also be inducted during the Country Music Association Awards on Oct. 4… Christian music singer Michael English surrendered Friday on a drug charge and was released on $2,500 bond. English, 38, was indicted Tuesday by the Davidson County grand jury on 12 counts of fraudulently obtaining the prescription drug hydrocodone, a sedative similar to codeine. Police raided his Nashville apartment in February after an investigation showed he and a friend were having numerous prescriptions filled by doctors. "Thank the lord for letting me see the error of my ways," English said. "Now, who's got a drink?"
