BMG AND CUSTOMDISC: LICENSE TO FILL
Entertainment Conglom, Online Comp Service Pact For Custom CDs
CustomDisc.com and BMG Entertainment have inked a licensing agreement that will give the dot-com access to BMG's catalog of music for distribution and syndication on customized compilation CDs and MiniDiscs.

In exchange for this, BMG will receive an equity stake in CustomDisc.com—which, when added to the company's stock participation in FloridaSwampland.com, could really add up to something.

This latest deal marks the third partnership between CustomDisc.com and BMG in the last year. In 1999, CustomDisc entered a syndication, distribution and marketing joint venture with BMG Direct, offering CustomDiscs to BMG Music Club's 9 million members. In addition, CustomDisc formed an alliance with BMG Special Products that offered premiums from BMG's catalog to a wide range of corporate clients seeking promotional gifts and branded, personalized incentives.

"This agreement with BMG significantly enhances our content offerings by providing us with access to tracks from a wide selection of recording artists," said CustomDisc.com CEO David Gould. "We are very excited about the positive impact this agreement will have on our ability to provide superior content to our consumers and distribution partners. A partnership with BMG underscores our commitment to delivering a wide spectrum of great music in all formats. Now all we have to do is order 800,000 large pepperonis from Pizza Hut."

This agreement offers music fans easy access to the songs of their favorite artists and provides BMG with a valuable marketing and sales platform for our artists and their music. Besides, what are people gonna do, download the tracks for free and burn them with their own CD writers? Trust me, I'm a new-media guru."
