Weinstein Brothers Break Mirror, Get Seven More Years Of Helming The Mouse’s Miramax
Miramax Films has extended its agreement for seven years with Harvey and Bob Weinstein to serve as Co-Chairman.

Miramax, an independently managed production company that is 100% owned by the Walt Disney Studios, was formed in 1979 and has received 148 Academy Award nominations and won 42 Oscars.

"Harvey and Bob Weinstein are creative geniuses," Eisner said. "Their love of film is matched by their deep understanding of the filmmaking process. The result has been an amazing variety of original and high quality content for out Studios. They continue to be an amazing variety of original content for our Studios. They continue to be at the forefront of the independent film movement and are second to none at discovering and developing talented young actors, directors and writers.

Disney bought Miramax in 1993, after the company had released such films as "My Left Foot," "Cinema Paradiso" and "Farewell My Concubine." Since then, they have released "The Cider House Rules," "Shakespeare In Love," "Life Is Beautiful," "Good Will Hunting," "The English Patient" and "Pulp Fiction."

Miramax has expanded into several new businesses including horror label Dimension Films, magazine Talk and Miramax Books.
