PROMOTIONS IN MOTION
Four high-profile music biz execs have garnered either promotions at their old jobs or appointments at new labels, including newly named Epic and Elektra promo domos Dan Hubbert and Mike Whited, respectively, as well as just-boosted Maverick exec Russ Rieger and Jimmy and Doug's Farmclub.com A&R exec Marc Nathan.
Ex-Hollywood Records Sr. VP Promotion Hubbert has been named Sr. VP Promotion for Epic by ERG President polly anthony',390,400);">polly anthony',390,400);">Polly Anthony, to whom he reports. Said Anthony: "With his drive, talent and passion, together with his ability to develop effective, long-term promotion strategies, we are in a great position to build on our successes and help our artists achieve their goals. Hey, he better be with the kind of money we're paying him."
Whited has been appointed VP Promotion for Elektra Entertainment Group by Executive GM Greg Thompson. Previously VP of West Coast Promotion for the label, Whited is the only promo exec on the staff who understands what the hell Ol' Dirty Bastard is talking about.
Longtime Maverick GM Rieger has been upped to Senior Executive at Maverick by label partners Madonna Ciccone and Guy Oseary. His job duties will include keeping the office kitchen kosher and hoping one day to meet both Madonna and Guy in person. His salary is now higher than his kabbalah number.
Veteran A&R exec Nathan joins Farmclub.com as Vice President A&R, based in L.A., where he will be responsible for discovering, signing and developing artists for the online label as well as sending erotic e-mail messages to Donna Hanover.
