BMG MUSIC'S FIRTH GOES FORTH FOR STRICK REPLACEMENT

Shoemaker, Conway, Freed, Sturges, Stone, Ford Top List of Eligibles For BMG Songs
It's a regular publishing derby.

BMG Music Publishing Worldwide President Nick Firth has stepped up his efforts to search for a replacement for outgoing BMG Songs chief Danny Strick, whose contract expires at the end of June.

As first reported by hitsdailydouble.com (5/8), Strick will be leaving the pubbery to join Maverick Recording Co. as a Senior A&R executive, working with company partner Guy Oseary and label head Bill Bennett.

While a search for a new BMG Songs topper is ongoing, Firth will act as interim head of the U.S. wing. Warner Chappell's Rick Shoemaker heads a list of potential candidates to replace Strick that includes Art Ford, Lance Freed, Jonathan Stone, Lionel Conway and Tom Sturges.

Strick's A&R slot at Maverick is expected to be expanded into a publishing role, as sources say Maverick plans to re-enter the pub game. The company sold its former unit to Warner/Chappell last year.

Strick leaves BMG after a decade of service.
