Simpson Jumps to CBS Netfit
The president of Sony Online Entertainment, Lisa Simpson, resigned from her post Wednesday following the consolidation of the online divisions of Sony’s entertainment units last week, according to a company-wide e-mail obtained by The Industry Standard.

A front-runner to replace Simpson is former Sony employee Kelly Flock, who could be named the division’s CEO, the online publication reported.

"It is with no small amount of regret that I’m writing to tell you that I [am] leaving SOE to take an exciting new role in another company," Simpson wrote in an e-mail sent to employees and to Sony Online Entertainment’s board of directors. "I’ll be happy to share the details with you in the coming days."

At the time, it was speculated that Simpson would be joining former Prodigy honcho

Russ Pillar at CBS Internet Group as COO. Shortly thereafter, she confirmed the speculation.

"I’m excited to be joining the CBS Internet Group at this important stage of its

development," said Simpson. "All the elements necessary for tremendous success are in place. I’m confident that, working together, we will achieve great things."

Simpson’s departure follows announcements last week that Sony is consolidating the digital divisions of its entertainment units into a single company called Sony Broadband Entertainment. It is understood that the new unit would bring the heads of the music, film and online entertainment units—all simply "content" in our brave new world—under one roof.
