ILLNESS CURBS ZZ TOP TOUR

Doctors Have Ruled Out "Tubesnake Boogie" As Cause Of Bassist’s Illness
Texas trio ZZ Top is canceling its summer European tour because bassist Dusty Hill has been diagnosed with the Hepatitis C virus.

"I want to extend my deepest apologies to the ZZ Top fans we may have disappointed," Hill said through a spokesman. "The prognosis is very good and with the help of physicians and family, I hope to see you sooner rather than later."

In a statement, the group said that thanks to early detection and with new and advanced drugs and extended rest, ''Dusty can look forward to a complete recovery.''

Some 35 concerts in 17 countries were canceled and would be reinstated later, the band said.
